

So keep that in mind and aim to use the right tool for the right job. And, just like email, there are plenty of times when a Zoom meeting or phone call would be far more effective than Slack. We can become too dependent and use it as a crutch. However, just like email, chat tools like Slack (or Microsoft Teams) can be abused and used in inefficient ways. It even allowed for the occasional Friday afternoon happy hour 🍻. In fact, Slack was key to making a seamless transition to working remotely in March of 2020: It helped us maintain healthy communications, open dialogue, celebrate and share wins, and move projects along smoothly during the pandemic. It not only helped us maintain collaboration as a team through this time, but it has helped make our team stronger. One of my team’s favorite collaboration tools is the chat-based communication app Slack.
